I've been tagged by Big Mike Mendez of Big Mike's Movie Blog (and also by striderdemme at Cinexcellence) to take part in a little meme doing the rounds, secretly I'm happy but this is a lot harder than it first seemed.
Piper at Lazy Eye Theatre has started the damn thing and here are the rules:
1) Choose 12 Films to be featured. They could be random selections or part of a greater theme. Whatever you want.Easy? You reckon? Oh well, this is what happens when Film for the Soul goes to the movies.
2) Explain why you chose the films.
3) Link back to Lazy Eye Theatre so I can have hundreds of links and I can take those links and spread them all out on the bed and then roll around in them.
4) The people selected then have to turn around and select 5 more people.
two films the seem to come together in one whole bowl of loveliness
Ikiru and The Diving Bell and the Butterfly
both films cover the theme of men facing death with a smile and making the best of their time left on this mortal coil
Wednesday - 'Shock Shock, Horror Horror'
Dawn of the Dead (1978) and Eyes Without a Face
both feature body horror and both scare the hell out of me
Thursday - 'War! What is it good for?'
Dr Strangelove... and The Grand Illusion
war is crazy, madding and just plain daft. Remember you can't fight here, this is the war room
Friday - 'Kill em' all'
Assault on Prescient 13 (1976) and The Wild Bunch
you want explanations? It's Friday night god damn it, get those guns out!
Saturday - Saturday Night's alright for fightin'
Oldboy and Raging Bull
just because I've always wanted to put them together and I think it's the perfect way to end the week
Ok then, I'm passing this onto -
Jeremy Richie at Moon in the Gutter
Raquelle at Out of the Past
J.D at Radiator Heaven
Joseph Campnella at Cinema Fist
Nayana Anthony at The Center Seat
Good luck.

14 baring their soul:
The only movie I haven't seen on here is IKIRU, and it's killing me!
You and Cossa Creek Rick always talk about it.
To the queue I go!
ps. great list and thanks for the tag.
Great list, Ib. Wouldn't you know that you'd put Ikiru on it.
Interesting pair of Oldboy and Raging Bull, and Dr. Strangelove and Grand Illusion. Hell, good choices ... you obviously put more thought into it than I did,l
(My list is up over at the creek, btw.)
Hey,
Great list...I'd go every night to see these. Thanks also for tagging me. I will get mine up sometime this week...thanks again.
Nice list - esp. Friday night, which is my personal fave. I've got mine up, btw.
I just poste mine...hope it proves enjoyable. Thanks again for tagging me.
Eyes Without a Face, nice one.
Well, I'm there for Saturday! Saturday! Two kick ass movies, although considerably more going on in those films than just the ass kicking.
Gotta love Ikiru. :)
Tag I'm it. Thanks so much for including me.
After reading Santiago's Blindness I might want to attend your Tuesday double feature. Can't get enough of the blindness!
Damn, this is a good list.
A good start with Punch Drunk Love. I included it as well. I've never seen a movie translate love like that.
And I still haven't seen Eyes Without a Face, but I want to because I've heard it's wonderful.
And I can't imagine a better Friday night or Saturday night.
Finally, a list whereon I have seen most of the titles (only Assault and Dawn have escaped my grasp). As a fellow classics lover, you can check out my list. I'd say click here, but I still haven't figured out url tagging so copy and paste instead. Sorry, but I promise it's worth it:

Er, make that "should" not "can check out my list." Nobody needs permission, of course...
Hi all, thanks for all the great comments.
Joseph - Hope you get to see Ikiru soon, it really is worth the wait.
Rick - Choosing Ikiru was something of a surprise wasn't it? :)
J.D - I knew you'd love Friday night! And I loved you list.
Richey - Great list, once again your tastes proving both eclectic and divine. As for the tag, you're welcome.
Big Mike - I love Eyes Without A Face, it truly horrified me as a youngster. I caught it on late-night TV and had to sleep with the light on.
I just couldn't think of a better name for Saturday night than it's alright for fighting; I have no idea why I've always thought Oldboy and Raging Bull go together but they just seem to meld into one another.
Cinexcellence - I think I love that film just a little too much some days.
Raquelle - As great as that double feature would be, I think I'd be a total wreck by the end of the evening.
Piper - Thanks. Punch-Drunk Love left me dumbstruck when I first saw it. You're right, nothing has ever got love quite like that before, it's a truly ethereal experience watching that film.
Friday night is my particular fave, when I paired those beauts together I had a 'yeah!' moment.
MovieMan0283 - Welcome to the site (and to LAMB, when the time comes). I've checked out your list (with or without permission ;) ) I've left my comments on your post but just to reiterate there are some excellent choices on that list.
Hmmmm...seems like you guys are a pretty close knit little club. How about consulting me sometime, this stranger commenting here. I volunteer my knowledge and service to your cause. And I promise to surprise you with whatever I come up with.
